Greatest accomplishment from lifting and/or fitness in general?  Through hard work, dedication and the support of some incredible people I earned my pro card in the WNBF at my first figure competition. It was the most incredible and memorable moment in my life so far. I was a winner before I set foot on stage that day. Having reached every goal I set out for myself at the start of my 12 week training program was a victory! The feeling of empowerment, accomplishment and satisfaction was unsurpassed. Everything in my life has changed because of this. I realized anything is possible if you believe.

Favorite exercise to do in the gym?  Unassisted pull ups

I am looking forward to new challenges as I compete in the NPC.  As a Figure competitor, I continue to challenge myself and enjoy being in a position to inspire others around me.
I also want to take the opportunity to raise public awareness and facilitate fundraising efforts to find a cure for Juvenile Myositis (JM) – a RARE autoimmune disease which causes the body to destroy its muscles – currently there is NO CURE. I am very passionate about this because my niece, Gia, was diagnosed in 2004 at the age of two with Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDMS – a form of JM) and I have watched her journey battling this disease.
Juvenile Myositis affects approximately 5,000 children of all ages in the United States causing a variety of debilitating symptoms including: muscle weakness and pain, severe fatigue, rashes, swallowing and digestive difficulties, lung and heart problems, vasculitic ulcers, calcinosis. Some children may experience a remission, while others will battle JM their entire life, and complications from this disease can prove FATAL. Medication can help to alleviate the symptoms of JM, but there is NO KNOWN CURE.
The Cure JM Foundation is a 501(c)3 all volunteer organization committed to raising the funds necessary to find a cure for JM.  Cure JM Foundation is made up of parents, grandparents and loved ones who have been touched by Juvenile Myositis.  The Cure JM Foundation was established in October 2003 with the goal of raising awareness of this rare disease and funding research to find a cure for Juvenile Myositis, including Juvenile Dermatomyositis and Juvenile Polymyositis.  In the past, I donated the winnings I received as a WNBF pro to help raise money for Gia’s medical expenses and to find a cure for JM. I hope to continue to facilitate fundraising efforts for Juvenile Myositis within the fitness community. Being that this is a disease that affects muscles, it’s very fitting that I am building muscle to save muscles!
