Lifting stats: Any you would like to share?
I have not actually lifted for my 1RM, I switch up my rep ranges between 6-15, but I can squat and deadlift more than I weigh, and no smith machine here!
Greatest accomplishment from lifting and/or fitness in general?
I kind of “fell” into competing when numerous people approached me last summer and told me about an upcoming show that I should compete in. At the time, I had no intention to compete and I had no idea what these bodybuilding/figure competitions that they mentioned even were! About a week before the show, I decided I should try it out because I always work extremely hard in the gym and track my nutrition, so I thought “why not!” So, I quickly learned how to pose, and gathered competition supplies. I competed in the Women’s Open Figure division, although I was (an still am) eligible to compete in the Teen Figure Division. I ended up placing 2nd in the open class and 1st in Teen. One week later, I did another show and received the same placings. Then, a few weeks after that I did a show in California where I won Women’s Figure Overall. That was one of my biggest accomplishments in fitness so far because less than a month before winning, I had no intentions to compete at all!
Favorite exercise to do in the gym?
I really can’t choose a favorite exercise in the gym, I love them all. I have made the biggest gains by incorporating the basic, compound exercises into my routine regularly such as: squats, deadlifts, any sort of shoulder press (barbell or dumbbell), and pull-ups. I recently achieved my goal of doing pull ups unassisted, and I have quickly noticed that they are an excellent exercise because they involve several upper body muscles. All of these are my favorites!
Ever have guys challenge you in any sports, arm wrestling or wrestling? If so what happened? Although I have never accepted the challenge, I have had several guys volunteer to arm wrestle me. While at the gym or walking through the grocery store, many guys have approached me to ask if I can flex for them. They then proceed to challenge me! I always say I do not want to make them look bad!
Anything you would like to add or tell your fans?Never give up on your health and fitness goals, be consistent, and have patience because small adjustments can lead to big changes. Think of your fitness and health as a lifestyle, not a decision to diet for spring break or a special occasion. It is not about making a new year’s resolution to lose weight, only to give up weeks after because results are not coming fast enough. Choose to be fit and healthy and make a commitment to change your lifestyle and cherish your body like a temple because you only have one.
